4We offer clients top-quality service and superior materials. We have constructed some of the region’s most beautiful homes and businesses and offer competitive prices and highly skilled craftspeople. Our contractors are completely involved during the design phase, addressing architectural design, floor layouts and building compliance codes.

Architectural Design Elements

The architectural design considerations include: artistic aspects; personal expression; natural and organic involvement; regionalism influences; function; and traditional aesthetics. Floor layouts are developed around these elements. The building codes establish the minimal levels of safety for components such as electrical wiring, material composition, and environmental impact.

External Construction

We are involved in external construction aspects that include: foundation; water system; electrical wiring; weather protection; retaining walls; and frames. Shallow foundations provide stability by transferring the forces of building loads to the earth near the surface. These include: pad foundations; slab-on-grade; mat slab; spread footing; rubble trench; and earth-bag. Deep foundations transfer the loads to sub-surface layers.

Light-Frame Construction

Light-frame construction involves workers who erect stable frames. Interior and exterior components and wall coverings are attached to these frames. They also provide the foundation for pre-fabricated roof trusses or ceiling joists and rafters.

Retaining Wall Usage

Retaining walls are built by to stabilize slopes, and prevent the ground from shifting downward. They are built into hills to provide protection for homes and to expand living areas at differing elevations. They are also used in the construction of railways, roads and terraces.

Inside Construction

Internal construction components are also addressed by professionals. These include: plumbing; ventilation; air conditioning; insulation; flooring; walls; and ceilings. It also encompasses the wiring processes for telephone, electricity, cable and Ethernet.

Finishing Stage Detail

The finishing stages involve: interior decorating; furnishings; cabinetry; toiletry; appliances; fixtures; painting; and flooring. The homeowners are usually instrumental during this stage, providing input for the details. They are often provided with samples and brochures from which to choose. Cabinetmakers incorporate a variety of woodworking skills to make cabinets, furniture and shelves. There are several schools of design.

Different Interior Design Elements

  • Scandinavian – The Scandinavian style incorporates clean horizontal and vertical lines. It does not utilize excessive ornamentation but instead focuses on the quality of the building materials.
  • French Provincial – The French Provincial style is very ornate. It incorporates stained or painted objects, concealing the wood. Corners and bevels are usually painted gold. Flat surfaces often have artwork painted on them, such as landscapes. A variety of woods are used; beech is the most traditional.
  • Colonial – Early American Colonial focuses on material as well as form. Tables and chairs often incorporate turned spindles. Wood is often steamed and bent to create chair-backs. Deciduous, fruit-bearing hardwoods such as cherry and walnut are the preferred materials.
  • Rustic – The rustic style is often called log-cabin. This utilitarian design features natural wood elements which remain similar to their appearances in the wild. This furniture is usually made from spruce, fir, cedar and pine.
  • Mission – Flat panels and straight, thick horizontal and vertical lines characterize the mission style. Oak is most often used, with hardware components made from black iron. The hardware is usually visible on the exterior of the furniture. Sometimes the oak is fumed, which creates a darker product.
  • Oriental This style, also called Asian, incorporates materials such as bamboo and rattan. The most frequent color choice is red. This style often features Asian language characters painted on the furniture.
  • Shaker This particular design focuses on symmetry and function. Since it developed in a religious community, the designs are based on the needs of the community rather than the individual expression of the builder. This style also utilizes a lot of fruit trees, such as cherry and walnut.
